The promenade extends along the Lake Ełckie, situated at the city centre. It is a nearly seven kilometre long section of the walking surface, with bike and roller blade lanes.
While walking down the promenade you can visit many pubs and restaurants situated longwise, some of them floating on water. Those who have a car will find many convenient parking places there. During the walk, you can also admire interesting sculptures made during the International Sculptor’s Workshops or sit down on one of the stylish benches. The historic bridge (formerly – drawbridge), sparkling with fabulously colourful lights, leads from the promenade to the island with the Teutonic Order Castle. Many cultural and sports events take place along the beautiful, elegant boulevard, especially in summer.

One of the sports and recreation objects of the City Sports and Recreation Center in Ełk. It comprises: a swimming pool, a recreational pool with water massage, waterfalls, fountains, water jets, 12 beds for hydromassage, a water gym (with bikes for aqua spinning and treadmill), 5 slides for children, ropes for climbing (climbing frame), a barrel, baskets for the water basketball, a 106 meters long slide, 5 person jacuzzi, solarium, saunas: wet, Turkish, infrared, steam room and ice cave.

The City Stadium comprises not only a grass pitch bounded by a tartan track but also multifunctional sports fields, tennis courts, playground, outdoor gym, an area for boules and mini-golf playing and, in winter season, ice rink with all necessary facilities. The building is adapted to organising sports and recreation events, and mass events. The object comprises:
1. The Stadium:
two full-size grass football pitches (103m x 67m and 101m x 62m);
six-lane tartan athletic track (400m) and a straight track (100m);
throwing area for javelin, the discus, the hammer and the short put; a venue for long jump and triple jump;
dressing rooms;
showers and toilets;
stand’s capacity – 2720 seats (plastic chairs).
2. Sports-recreation area:
multifunctional field with a synthetic surface with 2 volleyball courts, one handball court, 3 basketball courts and 3 tennis courts;
during the winter season the tennis court turns into the indoor ice rink (40m x 20m);
an ice rink facilities building with a toilet, dressing room, ice skates hire with a check out and a bar;
playground for younger children;
multifunctional field for team games for younger children (up to 12 years old);
recreational area with outdoor chess tables, an area for boules and mini-golf posts.

The River Ełk is a right tributary of the Biebrza River. It is 113,6 kilometres long. It starts at the Szerska Góra, near Gołdap. Its initial section, from the estuary to the Łaśmiady Lake is called Czarna Struga and Łaźna Struga. It becomes „the River Ełk” after passing through the Lake Ełckie into the south. It flows into the Biebrza River, in the vicinity of Osowiec, situated on Biebrza Marches. The River Ełk is the part of many surrounding canoeing tracks.
